Preparations

  • Tablets: 50 mg, 100 mg

Indications

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Angina pain
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Arrhythmias
  • Compensated congestive heart failure
  • To prevent heart attack
  • Prevention of migraine headaches
  • Treatment of certain types of tremors.

Dosing

  • Adults: 50-100 mg daily
  • Children: 1-1.3 mg/kg/day daily or in two divided doses

Adverse Effects

  • Leg Pain
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Fatigue
  • Skin rashes

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

  • There is no risk factor for pregnant women and poses no problem for elderly people.

Precautions

  • Atenolol can cause side effects. Avoid taking alcohol, which could increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking atenolol
